A 32-year-old woman, who had a history of rhinitis and asthma, started receiving oral desloratadine [dosage not stated] for a cold. Five hours after, she developed erythema and pruritic hives on her legs, face, neck, scalp and thorax. She received methylprednisolone, and her condition improved. Several days later, she received oral generic cetirizine [dosage not stated] and developed the same reaction 5 hours later [patient outcome not stated]. Skin prick tests were negative. Oral challenges were positive for desloratadine, loratadine, cetirizine, levocetirizine, ebastine and fexofenadine. Basophil activation tests were positive for desloratadine, cetirizine, ebastine and hydroxyzine.Author Comment"[We] present a case of acute urticaria due to multiple antihistamines regardless of family and/or generation."
