Sorajjakool uses the subtitle "Listening to Rahab" as reference to the methodology he uses in this book - listening. Rahab is the prostitute that helped the Israelites spy on the Biblical promised land. She was saved in exchange for the information and help she gave to the Israelites and was elevated to a place in the historical accounts. The author's context in writing this book is:
People are people, and their lives matter when they are heard. Their emptiness takes on meaning when they are no longer simply victims of sex crimes, statistics or objects of philanthropic generosity. An individual has stories, feelings, and opinions. An individual becomes a person when those stories, feelings, and opinions are acknowledged.
