Abstract
El objetivo de este estudio fue comparar la violencia de pareja entre mujeres blancas y negras del Nordeste de Brasil, así como determinar la influencia de diversas variables sociodemográficas sobre la experiencia de abuso dentro del marco de una relación de pareja. Una muestra de 500 mujeres (250 blancas y 250 negras) con relación de pareja heterosexual desde hacía al menos seis meses contestó al Index of Spouse Abuse. Los resultados encontrados permiten concluir que las mujeres de raza negra tienen más riesgo de sufrir abusos dentro de la pareja que las blancas, y que la edad, el nivel educativo, la ocupación, la práctica religiosa, la ideología política no influyen en la frecuencia del abuso físico y no físico.
