Abstract

With online social networks, young people communicate part of their personality. One of the tools they use to do this is the "Like" button of Facebook. It has been proven that the elements shared through this action are useful to know what users report of them, which can be very interesting for professors. This work analyzes the pages that 250 students from universities in Madrid have "Like" since they joined Facebook. The analysis shows, for example, that they have sense of humor and love the audiovisual content. And while trying to appear different to the mass, they end up imitating their peers. Thus, we conclude that young people perform a selection, probably aware, of the information that defines them as individuals in their Facebook profile, responding to the impression they want to show to their audience, which they want to belong to.
