Designed and built by the Chinese plant builder, CISDI, the 1450mm linked pickle line and cold mill at Tangshan Fengnan has enjoyed smooth operation and highly accurate quality of the product thus gained remarkable economic returns.
THE successful start-up of the 1450mm wide continuous pickling and continuous cold rolling mill (CPCM) at Tangshan Fengnan CM Galvanizing Company took place in June 2009. This project was led by CISDI Engineering Ltd of Chongqing, China who initiated a new mode of integrating the process steps of pickling and cold rolling. CISDI carried out the design, software programming, commissioning, functional testing and acceptance of the complete line. Some key equipment such as the flash welder and in-line instrumentation was imported as customised units.
Linking the pickling and rolling stages reduces handling and so ensures improved quality of the product as well as greatly reducing construction costs.
Project Overview
Tangshan Fengnan CM Galvanizing Company is located in the coastal industrial development zone of Tangshan Fengnan district. Its main products are cold rolled coil, annealed coil (strip) and galvanised sheet for household appliances and construction.
To build the CPCM line to produce a highquality product but at a low investment, Tangshan Fengnan selected CISDI as the leading technological supplier. The mill is planned to produce 1.2Mt/y of CQ, QD and DDQ products in grades of plain carbon steel, carbon structural steel and quality carbon structural steel. The CPCM has been highly spoken of by the end-users for the good product profile and performance and highly accurate thickness.
Pickling & Cold Rolling Line
The Tangshan Fengnan CPCM is composed of the entry section, pickling section and rolling section, as shown in Fig 1 . It consists of:
- Dual pay-off reels: expanding scope of drum: 660- 800mm; max uncoiling speed: 500m/min.
- Entry straightener: roller type, used for pulling strip out from the pay-off reel and straightening, and to some extent, descaling the strip by bending; total of seven straight - ening rollers, (three on top and four below) with roller diameter 175mm.
- Hydraulic shear: used for cutting the head and tail ends of strip to within 1.5~5mmX 720- 1300mm. Max shearing force 10OkN, inclination of lower blade:...
