David E. Jackson belongs to that fraternity of far western trappers and traders in furs (mostly beaver) known as "mountain men," which includes such familiar figures as Kit Carson, Jed Smith, and Jim Bridger. Jackson, however, has suffered poor press in the literature of the Rocky Mountain fur trade. In this study, which derives from her master's thesis from Brigham Young University, Vivian Linford Talbot sets out to rescue David Jackson from obscurity.
