Abstract

The right to health is a universal right that can not be limited by deprivation of freedom, reason why the health of prisoners has been a constant concern of Corrections, which is why the Organic Act created a model General Penitentiary Corrections health care, comprehensiveness, designed to cover all the health needs of inmates, autonomous, outside the health system, integrated within the Prison Service under the Ministry of Interior. The changes, both in law, such as those suffered in the prison population, made feasible the integrated model, which was replaced by a mixed model, provided by Prison and public health system, and is awaiting the integration of care healthcare in prisons in the public health system.
