This easy reader series is comprised of six short mysteries at three reading proficiency levels. Each book is accompanied by a mini-CD on which the length of the story has slightly been shortened by leaving out a few sentences. This, however, does not have an adverse effect on the flow and the overall understanding of the plot. The length of the CD readings varies from 20 to 23 minutes. The reading performance is thoroughly engaging and lively. On paper, each book is 39 pages long, and starts with short character synopses.
The simple detective stories revolve around five main characters: Einstein (Albert Neumann), Olli (Oliver Claasen), Jessica Berger, Moon (Carla Nowek), all of whom are middle school students and good friends, and who attend class 8b, and Dr. Schmidt, their teacher for biology and mathematics, whom our four heroes respect and trust more than anybody else. Together, they are able to solve the mysterious cases in which they seem to get involved quite often.
