Abstract

In the few reports of fetal-sex determination by ultrasound, accuracy of the technique has not been important, because determination of female sex has been performed by exclusion and the earliest time for accurate determination of sex was the 26th week of gestation, thus excluding clinical use of this technique for diagnosis of recessive X-linked disorders. By means of the Picker LS-3000 linear-array real-time ultrasound scanner, visualization of fetal genitalia was performed in two planes of orientation, for confident identification of male or female sex and mutual exclusion of male or female genitalia.
