Dickens of a Christmas Festival, The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County, Franklin, Tennessee. 11-12 December 2021.
Franklin, Tennessee is a small city of 80,000 that lies just over thirty kilometres to the south of Nashville. It is one of the many rapidly growing suburbs that are expanding over what was once rich farmland. Franklin, however, retains much of its small-town charm, and the mid-to-late Victorian homes, shops, and churches of its downtown area provide a cheerful backdrop to the city's most noted festival, Dickens of a Christmas. In 2021, Franklin celebrated its thirty-sixth edition of this event that features street actors, music, crafts, food, and spirits. The festival is much like an outdoor market with various vendors selling their wares, often dressed in period costumes. It is easy to think of Dickens's description...
