Doug Marlette died in a car accident near Holly Springs, Mississippi on July 10th. He was 57. Mariette, an editorial cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Kudzu, worked for the Tulsa World. He received the Pulitzer Prize in 1988 for his cartoons while working for the Atlanta Constitution and the Charlotte Observer.
