Abstract

This paper makes a study on the differences in wages, working conditions and satisfaction with working life between genders and ethnic groups in Ecuador. The analysis methodology is descriptive statistics, building tables and the application of theoretical analysis to empirical findings. Among the main conclusions have: Even with the proposed new paradigm of Good Living, and implementation of public policy of the current regime in Ecuador persist gender differences in the allocation of work roles; Furthermore, differences are deepened further when the analysis is broken down by ethnic groups, indigenous women being the most disadvantaged group in terms of wages, and men of African descent are the group of poorer working conditions. Therefore, the authors of this article propose the revision of public gender policy, as this should not only seek the inclusion of women in the workforce paid, but also the decrease of job insecurity of ethnic groups traditionally they play those roles.
