In a case series, a 28-year-old woman developed significant lability in glucose levels and steroid-induced striae during treatment with prednisone and nausea during treatment with doxycycline for pemphigoid gestationis (PG), while a 37-year-old woman developed an anaphylactic response during treatment with rituximab for PG [routes not stated; not all dosages, durations of treatments to reactions onsets and outcomes stated].
Case 1: A 28-year-old pregnant woman developed a pruritic rash at 28-40 weeks of gestation. She had a history of type 1 diabetes mellitus, asthma and hyperthyroidism. Her regular medications comprised continuous insulin pump, metformin and ranitidine. She was diagnosed with PG and started receiving treatment with prednisone 25mg. The dose of prednisone was increased to 35 mg/day for controlling the blister formation. She also received unspecified antihistamines without any relief from the pruritus. In February 2017, she delivered a healthy neonate. The PG flare-ups continued till 10 weeks postpartum. Attempts to decrease the prednisone dose led to development of new lesions.
