A 34-year-old woman developed acute dystonia following concomitant treatment with droperidol/fentanyl [fentanyl, containing droperidol] and metoclopramide. She had underwent right hepatectomy and had received IV droperidol/ fentanyl [dosage not stated] as patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). The total dose received of droperidol was 2.625mg. She experienced nausea, 15 hours post-operatively, that resolved after receiving IV metoclopramide 20mg. Her PCA was discontinued. She experienced excessive sleepiness and bilateral oculomotor disturbance and akinesis, 140 minutes after metoclopramide treatment. She was diagnosed with acute dystonia. She recovered without any treatment, 300 minutes after the onset of akinesis.
