Abstract

The article aims to study the municipal institution in the Cadiz Con- stitution of 1812. Exposure begins by analyzing the model advocated by bonapartist government municipality characterized by the pure centralism against any glimmer of municipal autonomy. The munici- pal system of the Cadiz Constitution, Title VI, wished to abolish the estates and the sale of public offices, and legal regulations, decrees of May 23, 1812 and June 23, 1813 - adopted after the Constitution re- newed the municipal administration trying to achieve two objectives: the creation and installation of constitutional councils and the election of the charges together with matters of a procedural nature and are op- erating following the path of constitutional normalization of the mu- nicipalities, who went wrong with the return to Spain Fernando VII and the subsequent repeal of the Cadiz Constitution and a return to absolutism.
