Abstract

Methods: We retrospectively investigated 17 patients sent to our hospital with an initial diagnosis of sciatic nerve injury for their demographical, clinical, electrophysiological features and their injected drug type. Used drug classes in the injection were diclofenac in 9 (%52,94) patients, diclofenac+ thiocolchicoside in 1 (%5,88), diclofenac+ hyoscine butylbromide in 1 (%5,88), clindamycin 1 (%5,88) and an unknown substance in 5 (%29,41). Conclusion: Injection neuropathy constitutes a major part of sciatic neuropathy where mechanical, ischemic, and toxic mechanisms are linked. Besides the direct damage of needle, toxicity of used substance is important.
