A 76-year-old man, a 63-year-old man and a 60-year-old man developed acute urinary retention (AUR) during treatment with escitalopram [routes not stated; not all outcomes stated].
Patient A: The 76-year-old man diagnosed with major depression with melancholic features, was started on escitalopram 10 mg daily and advised to increase the dose to 20 mg daily after a week. However, 10 days later, he was hospitalised for AUR and diagnosed with prostate hyperplasia. The man underwent prostatectomy.
