Abstract

In this paper, the author will discuss the figuration of the dandy character in the field of literary production. Initially he discuss its origin during the nineteenth century in French and English contexts. In order to understand this characterization, he will analyze the characterization of the characters of the novels À rebours by J. K. Huysmans and The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde. As a methodology he intend to search in the field of literary studies which are the formative elements of the dandy in the works of the above mentioned authors.
