This collection of essays covers a wide range of topics. It could be classified as too heterogeneous to review and use. On the other hand it might be considered a mode l for a research journal on migration and ethnicity covering approaches from many discip lines and groups from all continents (see below). Published by the highly renowned Scandin avian Centre for Multiethnic Research at the University of Uppsala, the seven essays deal wit h Danes in the Argentine Pampas, ethnic change in Hungarian border regions, the Karaim (a Jewis h - Turkic group), Uighur ethnic identity in China, contemporary developments among Kazaks, New Persian as an interethnic medium and multiculturalism in the Canadian context. T he last thirty pages contain information about (1) research projects at the Centre for Multieth nic Research, (2) publications of the centre's scholars from 1988 - 1991 (continuing a listing beg un in the same series, no. 14.), and (3) a list of conferences and lectures attended by the cen tre's scholars. The latter provides an occasion to show off. Contrary to most volumes in the series, this one is in English.
