Abstract

Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) is a new paradigm of wireless networks that provides mobility to nodes with no fixed or centralized infrastructure. Each node participating in the network acts as a router to route the data from source to destination. This characteristic makes MANET more vulnerable to routing attacks, such as flooding. Flooding attack consumes more resource like bandwidth, battery power, etc. In this paper, the behavior and the performance impact of flooding attack on Adhoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol were studied. The NS2 network simulator is used to evaluate the impact of flooding attack on AODV.
