Abstract

Considerations on the "amphibian origin of language" in contemporary philosophical thought Abstract: The present article proposes an exploration of the way in which certain contemporary philosophers (particularly Pascal Quignard, Michel Foucault and Giorgio Agamben) fabulate an "amphibian origin of language" in their attempt to think about an experience at the limit of language where life and word are necessarily articulated. The proposal, finally, is to think of this originary amphibian experience (logical and a-historical) with language, as enabling a new (historical and partial) beginning of our language, where certain streaks of negativity and death associated with articulated and signifying human language may be conjured. Fabulation; amphibian origin, experience of language; Michel Foucault; Pascal Quignard; Giorgio Agamben.
