1 Introduction
By definition, a credit card is referred as the means of payment which involves the concept of buying first and paying later ([42] Yee et al. , 2007). For simplicity, credit card is best described as "buy now" and "pay later" option. Credit card extends the purchaser a loan that does not have to be paid off immediately. Unlike conventional note, credit cards allow one to perform a payment of a purchase without carrying out cash and it is likely important amongst modern individuals. In Malaysia, credit cards are available in two forms namely conventional and Islamic credit cards. It is significantly varied than that of debit card ([28] Mishkin and Eakins, 2008). Relatively, a debit card is referred to "buy now" and "pay now" option. This explains that one does not necessarily ask for loan as he performs a payment of a purchase using his own cash instead of a bank's credit.
This study considers Islamic credit cards as a focus of research. Islamic credit cards are a form of Islamic banking product used to finance the purchase of halal products on a credit basis. Particularly, Islamic credit cards are governed by Shariah principles and are subjected to a detailed review by Shariah advisors of Islamic banks. This makes Islamic credit cards are particularly different compared to conventional credit cards.
To market Islamic credit cards effectively, marketers should tap the distinct concept of Islamic credit cards than that of conventional credit cards. Marketers may offer Islamic credit cards by differentiating the importance of the credit cards' characteristics to attract prospective users. Generally, Islamic credit cards are based on fiqh muamalat in which interest-based transactions, non-halal materials and exploitations are extremely prohibited. As such, those who are pious typically will choose Islamic credit cards to fulfill their religious commitment, which in turn improving their religious satisfaction that is linking to Islamic credit card transactions. It is explained that the service providers of Islamic credit cards should appreciate the truly meaning of fiqh muamalat in order to tap the distinct benefits of Islamic credit cards.
