Film Yapımında Kurgucuların Rolü ve Önemi: Film Kurgusunun Büyüsü (2004) Adlı Belgeselin Analizi

Abstract

Filmde kurgu, senaryo aşamasında başlayan ve filmin seyirciyle buluşmasına kadar süren katmanlı bir süreçtir. Film yapımında kurgunun önemi ve etkisi, önce David Griffith ve Edwin Porter’ın çalışmalarında, daha sonra da Sovyet sinemacıların yapımlarında kuramsallaştırılan bir yapıya dönüşür. Bu çalışmanın önemi film kurgusunun bir belgesel yoluyla detaylı olarak ele alınması, sinema alanında eğitim gören ve araştırma yapanlara bu belgeselin ayrıntılı bir şekilde sunulmasıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı The Cutting Edge: The Magic Of Movie Editing (2004) adlı belgeselin film kurgusu, kurgunun gelişimi ve yönetmen-kurgucu bakış açıları çerçevesinde analiz etmektir. Belgeselde pek çok kült filme imza atan kurgucu, yönetmen ve yapımcılarla röportajlara yer verilmekte, sinemanın ilk yıllarından 2000’li yıllara kadar film kurgusunun gelişim ve değişim evrelerine vurgu yapılmaktadır. Nitel veri analizi ve betimsel analize başvurularak mezkûr belgesel bölümlere ayrılmış, her bir bölüm ayrıntılı açıklanmış, bu bölümlerde ortaya çıkan tematik yapıda kurgucu-yönetmen-yapımcı görüşleri açıklanmıştır. Belgeselde pek çok filmden örnek sahneler gösterilerek kurgunun karmaşık, katmanlı bir yapısı olduğu ve kurgunun tamamlanma aşamasında kurgucu ve yönetmenin ciddi emekler ortaya koyduğuna ulaşılmıştır.

Editing in the film is a layered process that starts at the script stage and continues until the film meets the audience. The importance and influence of editing in filmmaking becomes a structure theorized first in the works of Griffith and Porter, and later in the productions of Soviet filmmakers. The importance of this study is to deal with the film editing in detail through a documentary, and to present this documentary in detail to those who are studying and researching in the field of cinema. The aim of this study is to analyze the documentary The Cutting Edge: The Magic Of Movie Editing (2004) within film editing, the development of editing and director-editor perspectives. The documentary features interviews with editors, directors and producers who have made many cult films, emphasizing the development and change phases of film editing from the early years of cinema to the 2000s. By applying qualitative data analysis and descriptive analysis, the aforementioned documentary was divided into sections, each section was explained in detail, and the editor-director-producer views were explained in the thematic structure that emerged in these sections. By showing sample scenes from many movies in the documentary, it has been reached that the editing has a complex and layered structure and that the editor and director put forth serious efforts during the completion of the editing.
