A 55-year-old woman developed trihexyphenidyl dependence and followed by worsening of her psychosis as a withdrawal syndrome. The occurrence of a dry mouth during trihexyphenidyl treatment and other side effects also thought to have been caused by fluoxetine [routes not stated] and its interaction with the other medications [specific drug not stated].
The woman was ill since the past 26 years, with brief-lasting episodes characterised by irrelevant speech, irritability, delusions of persecution, psychomotor agitation, third person auditory hallucinations, reduced sleep, and appetite, with biosociooccupational dysfunction. She would improve within a few weeks of treatment with trihexyphenidyl 4 mg/day and Haloperidol. She was maintained on medication since the past 17...
