A beautifully illustrated guide to neurology intended for medical students, Fundamentals of neurology is co-authored by the current and previous professors of neurology at Berne University Hospital. It also serves as a new complementary summary for the pocket textbook Neurology , now in its fourth English edition. Both books can be comfortably carried together in a doctor's bag. Neurology 's size has been reduced by publishing the references separately on a website. The translator, Ethan Taub, is a neurosurgeon and, although he disclaims any authorship, no doubt his influence contributes to the strength of the discussion of raised intracranial pressure, hydrocephalus, brain tumours, haemorrhages, and other topics where surgical issues are significant.
The authors are committed teachers and have produced an introductory textbook that orientates the beginner to the field of neurology, with a particular focus on communication, interview, examination, and syndrome recognition.
