Dirk von Petersdorff (b. 1962) has hitherto produced one collection of verse (Wie es weitergeht, 1992), along with a handful of poems and essays in anthologies and magazines. He is the recipient of the Hebbel Prize and two other minor awards. He is therefore recognized but still somewhat of an unknown quantity.
Zeitloesung presents a mixed bag of some thirty-seven poems, mostly unrhymed and of no pronounced rhythm, eight of which are, in fact, prose poems. The opening poem, "Dianas Frage," describes Princess Diana's wretched position and ends with her "Could you possibly tell me,/what I can do...
