I enjoy reading management books. Some of them I love, some of them contain a few gems I can use and others I downright disagree with. I particularly like to read books on being a boss. If I can be a better boss, perhaps I can engender better employee performance. This book, although published in 1999, is among my favorites. The Gifted Boss showed me several opportunities to improve and validated some things I was already doing.
The Gifted Boss provides colorful, real-life illustrations of excellent bosses in action. Dauten not only tells how extraordinary bosses differ ordinary ones, but actually shows what these bosses look like on the job. Through anecdotes and quotes from bosses at companies large and small, he shines a bright light on bosses in an entertaining way.
