Emerging markets, as well as multinationals from emerging markets, have gained a lot of significance and generated a lot of interest among both academicians and practitioners, particularly in last decade or so. There are five aspects to the trend. First, MNCs (multinational corporations) from developed countries are targeting emerging markets but their success record has been far from satisfactory. The second aspect is the increasing number of emerging market MNCs (EMCs) going to developed countries and fighting with established MNCs from the developed countries.
