Abstract
The historical heritage preservation is associated with a set of actions that involve government and society. Through the use of information and communication technologies has become possible to reconstruct, record, disclose and inform about archaeological sites around the world. In this context, distance is no longer an impediment aspect of access and computer systems connected to the worldwide web allows extending access to archaeological sites to spread the concepts of sustainability, preservation and historical value, among others. This paper presents a study conducted with the archaeological site of "Itacoatiaras do Ingá", located in the city of Inga, at the state of Paraíba, Brazil. From the gathering of information from diverse sources, a study was conducted to categorize the information and compose a three-dimensional multimedia environment for virtual visitation. To achieve that, it was reunited a multidisciplinary team and developed a virtual site aimed at dissemination of the archaeological site of Itacoatiaras do Ingá through a three-dimensional scenario consisting of images, texts and interviews about the site, its history and its stories.
