Over the past decade, clinical ethics has gained increasing prominence within the field of health ethics, especially from a global perspective. The COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, brought a range of clinical ethics challenges into sharp focus, from bedside rationing to the use of unproven therapies. While professional organisations have done a lot in this domain, the World Health Organization (WHO) has occasionally addressed specific clinical ethics concerns, but there remains a lack of comprehensive, general WHO guidance on clinical ethics.
