In International Logistics, Long discusses the theory and management of global supply chains. He covers the basic aspects of international logistics in four sections. The first concerns the theory of global sourcing, the economics of trade, and strategic planning. The second concerns transportation, and the third concerns customs, regulations, documentation, finance, and security operations. The final section concerns alliances, inventories, information systems, and public logistics.
The first section includes four chapters. In the second section, Long covers such topics as transportation planning, intermodalism and land transport, shipping, ports, and air transportation and uses mainly US examples and statistics.
