The Internet Hockey Database is an amazing source of information on the world of hockey, including statistics on more than 57,000 players, 2,600 teams, and 165 leagues. Perhaps more impressive is the fact that it is maintained by one person. Ralph Slate is the site's creator and editor and, though he has many sources of information (books, Web sites, and people) to which he gives thanks on his Credits page, bringing all of this information together in one place is a huge job for one person.
The site is divided into seven main areas: Statistics, Draft picks, Logos, Trading cards, NHL player lists, Player awards, and Message boards. There are several links to each of these main areas from the home page, and there is a brief description of what is included in each area here as well. One way to access the main areas is from the Quick surf column on the left-hand side of the home page. In addition, this section also lists the subcategories of each of the main areas.
