Celia de Anca is currently the Director of the Centre for Diversity in Global Management at Instituto de Empresa Business School. She was previously the Director of Corporate Programs at the Euro-Arab Management School (EAMS), Granada. She has also worked for the Fundación Cooperación Internacional y Promoción Ibero-América Europa. (CIPIE) and at the International Division of Banco de Santander.
She is a member of the Ethics Committee of Morgan Stanley's Ethics Fund, Spain, the International Scientific Committee of the University Euromed in Marseille, France and a member of the Observatory of the Flexible Enterprise, Spain. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Instituto de Empresa Business School.
She is the co-author, with Antonia Vázquez, of the book, Managing Diversity in the Global Organization .
What inspired you to write this book?
We launched the Center for Diversity in Global Management at IE Business School four years ago. Since then we have been working with a number of corporations on issues related to diversity, and we were really surprised at the level and quality of the different initiatives that many corporations were developing.
We wanted to contribute to corporate diversity by fitting all these wonderful initiatives into a practical guide that could help others to initiate their own, and to make the management of diversity into an understandable framework for action.
Our aim in writing this book was, through theoretical analysis complemented by practical application and validation in business contexts, to find a reference point; the past and present that lead naturally to a future of increasing harmonization of the company with its environment.
Who do you hope will read it?
The book intends to give a theoretical framework as well as serve as a practical tool that can be helpful in understanding some of the relevant issues in diversity management and thus help implement diversity policies. It is therefore oriented to the business world and specifically practitioners, researchers and consultants.
We also hope to raise the interest of people who wish to understand one of the main trends in the business world today, which is that of focusing on the people within the organization.
