A 16-year-old boy developed Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) during treatment with isotretinoin for severe inflammatory acne; HSP resolved after eradication of a Helicobacter pylori infection.
The boy started receiving oral isotretinoin [dosage not stated] in November 2003. In February 2004, he developed abdominal colics with vomiting, followed by palpable purpureal lesions on his legs a few days later.
Isotretinoin was discontinued. A skin biopsy disclosed leucocytoclastic vasculitis with IgG and complement deposits. HSP was diagnosed. The boy's skin lesions...
