YAMBA DELIVERS 10.6M NAIAD RHIB TO QUEENSLAND PARKS AND WILDLIFE
Yamba Welding and Engineering has completed a 10.6- by 3.3-metre RHIB, 'Jakarra' to support the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park fleet. 'Jakarra' which means sawfish in the language of the Yirrganydji people of Cairns, was jointly funded by the Federal and State governments and will operate out of Cairns.
Designed as a multi-purpose vessel, 'Jakarra' can perform a range of tasks including compliance monitoring, island national park maintenance, diving operations and research activities.
Designed by New Zealand-based RIB specialist Naiad, the 10.6-metre vessel has a heavy duty door incorporated into the starboard bulwark in the cockpit. This is a recent innovation by Naiad and has been popular on recent police boats...
