Abstract

The Japanese publishing industry today is in the throes of an epochal transition. Changing reading patterns, new digital technologies, new distribution networks, and the expansion of Internet marketing are some of the factors that will determine the future of the industry. As digitalization spreads further, the conventional form of printed publications may also change dramatically.
