Abstract

Struggles with writer’s block are common to all types of authors, yet they seem especially prevalent in the academy. Professors find their time consumed by teaching, grading, advising, committees, and reviewing, leaving little for their own research projects. Imposter syndrome and fears of hostile reviewers sap energy. Scholars are ashamed to express their difficulties, intimidated by more productive colleagues. In Write No Matter What: Advice for Academics, a title in the Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing series, Joli Jensen confronts these issues with sage, specific guidance. Essentially a work of self-help for academic writers, the book will prove useful to readers throughout academia.
