What programs has KMEA developed to incorporate the National Standards in music education?
We have developed and distributed a Kansas Music Education Framework. The Framework is a set of exit outcomes and sequential steps to reach the exit outcomes) for each Achievement Standard in the National Standards. This is done by musical element (melody, rhythm, etc.) for each Achievement Standard. Many of our Strategic Plan goals target specific Content Standards as well (for example, the KMEA Composition Competition targets Content Standard #4).
