Abstract
People in the arts and humanities had skills, knowledge, and methods at hand that could help clinicians, public health experts, and other front-line responders to cope, and, hopefully, to heal.” Because Ostherr saw a gap between her understanding of public health and her work in the humanities, she decided she needed public health training. At Rice University, Ostherr is now exploring topics at the intersection of medicine and the humanities, including ethics and consent in the uses of data by big technology companies, and trust and privacy issues related to artificial intelligence and other digital technologies.
