This book, a posthumous publication of the work of labour law professor Antonio Marzal, is the last in a series devoted to comparative labour law that was launched in 1995 after he had organized a first seminar for European lawyers in Barcelona. As explained in the foreword, the task that Antonio Marzal set upon then "appeared modest, but was in fact virtually unprecedented in European academe at the time. The idea was to bring together small groups of scholars to take stock of a common problem during intensive working sessions rather than organize large conferences with successive soliloquies, and to discuss changes in European labour law in languages other than English. These unusual features help to make this collection of works a unique instrument for understanding the period of change that affected labour law during the transition from the twentieth to the twenty-first century".
