Abstract

This paper is about Program Evaluation Theory. It shows, at the beginning, an overview on Evaluation as knowledge discipline, analyzing their constitutive elements. Then, we focus on the development of Program Evaluation, with one special interest, in the 60's, on research methods, with one important contribution to develop appropriate methods to the special evaluation questions and issues, and in the 80's involved on the development of Program Theory, one of the elements constitutive of the knowledge discipline, to guide the construction of social and educative programs, its goals, its implementation and outcomes, and to guide the decisión making, to change and improve programs, and thus, to contribute to the construction of knowledge.
