Las imágenes sonoras de los signos lingüísticos

Abstract

Se responde a las principales objeciones formuladas por los autores de artículos-comentario al artículo-objetivo: “Las imágenes en el pensamiento”. Se describe con mayor profundidad la noción de imagen acústica, o imagen sonora, utilizada en el lenguaje interior y se insiste en la explicación de algunas de sus propiedades. Entre las objeciones que merecen mayor detenimiento estarían aquellas que hacen referencia a la participación de las imágenes en el pensamiento de las personas privadas de audición y a la velocidad de procesamiento de las imágenes icónicas de los signos lingüísticos en relación con la velocidad de procesamiento de las imágenes sonoras.

The present paper responds to the main objections made in the open peer commentaries to the target article: “Images in thought”. The notion of acoustic image, or sound image, used in the inner language is described in more depth and I insist on the explanation of some of its properties. Among the objections that deserve more attention would be those that refer to the participation of the images in the thinking of the people deprived of hearing, and the speed of processing of the iconic images of the linguistic signs in relation to the speed of processing of sound images.
