Abstract
“Community members who had lost family members to infection underscored the importance of this work. The Navajo Nation is the USA's largest Native American reservation, covering parts of Arizona, Utah and New Mexico and home to approximately 200 000 Native Americans. In her role, Hammitt is based in southwest Colorado, an hour's drive from the Navajo Nation, and has been partnering with tribal communities on research to reduce the burden of infectious diseases that are over-represented in Native people.
