Abstract

The racial legislation marks its debut in Romania during the dictatorship of Carol II. In the beginning of Aug 1940, the Law-Decree no. 2650 concerning the judicial status of Jewish inhabitants of Romania inaugurated the road towards the transformation of ant-Semitism into state politics. Florian details this Law-Decree, inspired by the racial laws of Nurenberg, which ascertains three categories of Jews on which it imposes economic, social, educational, and political restrictions.
