A look at slowing progression of myopia

Abstract

Myopia is especially common in Asia. For instance, in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, 60-80% of young adults have myopia and 15-20% have high myopia, compared with 20-30% for myopia and 2-3% for high myopia in the USA, Europe, and Australia. Moreover, the severity of myopia rises by about 1[middot]5 D per year in Singapore children, compared with 0[middot]5 D per year in US children.
