This field guide covers all 462 mammal species known in North America. It includes extinct species, those introduced from more exotic locations, rarely recorded species (e.g. Hairy-legged Vampire Bat) and even species that venture north very occasionally. It does not include the domestic dog or horse as it is assumed that these are known to everyone and unlikely to be confused with any native mammals.
