The American Educational Research Association (AERA) has selected Margaret Beale Spencer, a professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania, to deliver the Fourth Annual Brown Lecture in Education Research this fall in Washington, D.C. This lecture commemorates the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which took scientific research into account in issuing its landmark ruling.
AERA President Eva L. Baker announced Spencer's selection during the Association's 88th Annual Meeting and expressed the Association's enthusiasm."To have such a stellar scholar and mentor deliver this Brown Lecture embodies what AERA seeks to convey by this award and about education research," Executive Director Felice J. Levine additionally noted.
