The following oncology nurses comprise the Editorial Board of the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON) for 2013. They are involved in clinical care and support the mission of CJON, which is to provide practical information necessary to care for patients and their families across the cancer continuum and to develop publication skills in oncology nurses. Each associate editor is receptive to working with those interested in authoring columns. The associate editors welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions for column topics. Contact information can be found at the end of each description.
Journal Editor
Deborah K. Mayer, PhD, RN, AOCN®, FAAN, is an associate professor in the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her program of research focuses on the issues facing cancer survivors and improving cancer care. She has a clinical practice working with breast cancer survivors. Deborah is an advanced practice oncology nurse who has consulted with organizations on issues to improve cancer care and has more than 30 years of cancer nursing practice, education, research, and management experience. She earned a PhD from the University of Utah, her MSN from Yale University, her BSN from Excelsior College, her Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Maryland, and her diploma from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing.

Associate Editors
Valerie Burger, RN, MA, MS, OCN®, is the assistant vice president of the Cancer Service Line at the Monter Cancer Center for the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. This regional role puts Valerie in the community cancer programs affiliated with the health system. Valerie has been an oncology nurse for more than 24 years.
