Georgia State University College of Law announced that Associate Prof. Jessica Gabel Cino has been named associate dean for academic affairs. She will oversee the course schedules, compliance with accreditation, hiring part-time instructors and other academic matters, as well as handling issues such as grade appeals, scholarships, academic dishonesty issues, hardship withdrawals and more. Prof. Cino teaches courses on forensic evidence, forensic medicine, bankruptcy and contracts, and her primary research focuses on fraud and ethics at the intersection of law and science. She has lectured throughout the U.S., Poland, China, Taiwan and Australia. An ABI member since 2009, Prof. Cino also serves as a coordinating editor for the ABI Journal, and is a past member of ABI's Civility Task Force and ABI's Mentoring Program.
The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) announced that Rafael X. Zahralddin-Aravena of Elliott Greenleaf has become an NACD Governance Fellow. In addition, he also coached participants at the Minority Corporate Counsel Association's "Blueprint for Selling and Buying: Creating Professional Success for Outside and In-House Counsel," a full-day conference that promoted the advancement of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Mr. Zahralddin is a shareholder, director and chair of Elliott Greenleaf's Commercial Bankruptcy and Restructuring Department in Wilmington, Del., and his practice includes commercial bankruptcy and restructuring, commercial litigation, creditors' rights, corporate law and entity formation, international and comparative law, corporate compliance and related regulations, including under the Federal Corrupt Practices Act, commercial transactions, and cyber law (both in compliance and litigation defense). He has been an ABI member since 2000 and has served as education director of ABI's International Committee.
Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP announced that Gregory G. Plotko has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office. His clients include distressed investors, bondholder groups, ad hoc creditor groups, creditors' committees and major secured and unsecured creditors, as well as debtors, bank agents, financial institutions and other parties, in chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings and other distressed situations. Mr. Plotko has been an ABI member since 2000.
