The orthopaedic community suffered a great loss with the passing of Benjamin Shaffer, M.D., on May 20, 2015. An honored physician, an exceptional human being, and someone admired by all, Dr. Shaffer passed away at age 57, leaving his wife and two children.
We all have benefited from Dr. Benjamin Shaffer's accomplishments during his 25 years in practice. Dr. Shaffer graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He then went on to obtain his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine through the Junior Honors Medical Program, followed by an orthopaedic residency at The Hospital for Joint Diseases and Orthopaedic Institute where he was selected as executive chief resident. Dr. Shaffer initiated his focus in sports medicine with his fellowship at the KerlanJobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
